AI Product Manager

Deciding what should exist, and what should not

Most AI projects do not fail on the technology but on the choice of task. This trade is about deciding early, and owning what you give up.

Why this role

A task deserves to be automated when it is frequent and when its errors can be caught. The three other cases in the grid call for another answer, sometimes none at all.

What it does concretely

  • Cross the frequency of a task with the cost of its errors, before talking about tools
  • Cut the scope of the first version until it fits into a few weeks
  • Remove duplicate screens, fields and concepts rather than adding more
  • Say when a project does not deserve to exist, or not yet
On a real project

The Klem assistant qualifies an organisation on seven dimensions, scope, size, maturity, regulation, trajectory, objective and deadline, precisely to avoid selling a tool to someone who does not need one yet.

What it is not

This is not backlog management. The useful work happens before the backlog exists.

Two ways to access it

Embedded profile

Inside your team

A profile joins your team for an agreed period, works on your tools and your data, and passes on what they build as they go.

On a project

On a deliverable

The role is mobilised on a project with a defined scope, alongside the other skills required. You receive a deliverable, not a report.
